"And, Mrs. Miller, who, like every wife and mother, could do at least three different things at the same time, went back to reading her book and sewing buttons on a shirt." - Danny Dunn and the Homework Machine (1958)

Thanksgiving Song
(from Happy Jack) by Thornton W. Burgess~
Thanksgiving comes but once a year,
But when it comes it brings good cheer.
For in my storehouse on this day
Are piles of good things hid away.
Each day I’ve worked from early morn
To gather acorns, nuts, and corn,
Till now I’ve plenty and to spare
Without a worry or a care.
So light of heart the whole day long,
I’ll sing a glad Thanksgiving song.
The boys left for South Carolina this morning around 5am. Mary and I enjoyed turkey with Grandma, Aunt Jessi, Jaiden and Julian today. We miss them already.
