The doctor wanted to check the size (to make sure one side isn't becoming enlarged) and the function, of her heart. We don't expect any problems.

MRI
Mary had a sedated MRI today at UofC hospital today. She had to fast, but was the first case, so it wasn't too bad. And she's a trooper, anyhow. She happily colored, and talked, away the wait~
She was fussing a little bit beforehand, and Grandma promised her some stickers when she woke up. We had to go to the Emergency Room (outside to another building) to find any, but it's a good thing we did, because it was the first thing Mary asked for as the anesthesia was wearing off.

Everyone Knows It's Windy
We took a trip down to Navy Pier today for a ride on the Tall Ship - Windy. The weather was perfect~

The kids were excited to see the skyline from this vantage point~
But just being on a tall ship was a thrill~

Sammy got to man the cannon~
It was actually more interesting than just a sail - the crew gave a mini history lesson about pirates on the Great Lakes. We were very entertained~
Since we were there, we looked around the rest of a near-empty Navy Pier~
The boys took a ride on the Ferris wheel~
Another great view~

Hello up there~
Mary was a little nervous about going up so high, so she stayed closer to the ground and took a spin on the carousel~

For He's a Jolly Good Fellow
We celebrated Grandpa's birthday today~
Good thing Grandpa has had enough birthdays that he doesn't mind sharing~
Because even when it's not her birthday, Mary still gets to blow out the candles~

Bear Down, Chicago Bears
We returned from camping, and Sam's travel coach offered us Bears tickets. Never able to say no to a sporting event, we headed down to Soldier Field as soon as Scott got off work tonight. The kids had never been to a Bears game before, so it was pretty exciting~
We were pretty high up, but we can handle it~

Mary's favorite part might have been the shuttle back to the parking spot~
And we couldn't pass up a chance to finally eat at the White Palace Grill (featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives)

The food was great and the Bears beat the Browns. It was a fun (if exhausting!) night.

Say Yes! to Michigan
We've been going here for years, and I don't think we'll ever tire of it. This time, we brought the Peseks with, to show them one of our most favorite spots on earth~
We left Saturday right after the boys' triathlon, and got up late that night. The Peseks found us a cabin for night, and Jacqueline and I were up before the sun to get in line for a camping site. I've always said Michigan is my favorite state, and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is why. People (especially native Michiganders) would look at me like I was crazy. I finally feel vindicated with this report from Good Morning America, naming Sleeping Bear Dunes the "Most Beautiful Place in America". The drawback is it will now become more crowded :( After setting up camp and settling in on Sunday, Monday we canoed down the Platte River~
Mary and her buddy, Aaron, share a ride~
No "bleaches" (leeches) this time~

At the mouth of Loon Lake, we came across this awesome sand castle someone had built on a sandbar~

On Tuesday we climbed the dunes for a bit, while our friends explored on their own~
Handsome at 8~
I am always amazed at the never-ending energy my kids have~
Good fathers make good sons~

She keeps going~
And going~
And going~
I love this little girl~
We spotted this guy our last night~
While we packed up Wednesday morning, Mary kept herself busy (applying make-up to her knees) ~
We all had a wonderful time - and can't wait to go again next year!

Swim, Bike, Run
They did it again! We had perfect weather for the Chicago Triathlon today.

Not as nervous as last year, just a little healthy adrenalin~
Ready to rock and roll~

This is #4 for Charlie and he still smiles through it~

A respectable finish of 43:27 (200 meter swim, 8k bike, 2k run) ~

The Bones~

Nice finish of 24:09 (2.5 minutes faster than last year) ~
Scott and I are really proud of these two~
