Extreme Legos

We've been hearing about this amazing exhibit from the Northern Illinois Lego Train Club for over a year now. Today, after enjoying our church's volunteer appreciation pancake breakfast, we finally got to see it with some friends at Cantigny. It did not disappoint. This is just a small sampling of the awesome city scape~

The boys are mesmerized by "Raiders of the Lost Ark" playing on an iPod made to look like a movie screen~

Afterward we went for lunch at a nearby Mexican restaurant.

Tonight we were playing a game with Sam. He wanted us to guess the letter he was on in his phonics workbook. When I asked him to give us a hint, like a word that started with the letter, he said, "rectum". Of course, Scott and I cracked up. Then I asked him what a rectum was. He said, "It's Latin, for number seven". (That's septem.)

"Play" Date

Today we had some fellow Greenhouse students over to read through this year's play. It took longer than expected because there are so many unusual accents to stumble over. The kids were diligent and spent over 2 hours on it, and then finally, I released them to play in the snow :)

I woke up this morning to Sam "whisper" singing Y.M.C.A. next to me :)

Snow!

After a really pleasant fall, we finally welcomed winter in with our first snow. Sledding is one of our favorite cold-weather activities. Today we (meaning, the boys) were out on the hill for almost 3 hours! Mary and I hung out in the car, napping (Mary) and reading and visiting with Tracy (mama). Sam came back exhausted~
But felt better after warming up with some hot cocoa~

15 minutes later, Charlie and Cole drag themselves back~

It was cold, especially with the wind. But everyone had a lot of fun. It's one of the benefits of homeschooling - sledding during the day, when it's warmer and not crowded :) Well, that and brewery tours...
